Gerardo "Gerry" Salazar

As the Administrator of Outdoor and Environmental Education for the Los Angeles Unified School District, Gerardo overseas programs for two outdoor education centers and five non-district sites.

Strategic partnerships and collaborations with community-based organizations and his office have increased student participation in outdoor education programs from 4,800 to 18,700 in the last 5 years.

His goal is to provide every LAUSD fourth and fifth grader the opportunity to have a high-quality, natural world-based science experience at no cost to schools or families.

He has served as the Co-chair of the California Environment Literacy Task Force / Access and Equity Project. He is an active contributor to the California Regional Environmental Education Community (CREEC) and currently serves on the NASA – Network of States Advisory Council.

Gerardo is a graduate of UCLA, the Council of Europe International Law Center in Strasbourg, France and received his Master’s Degree from CSU Dominguez Hills.
